about

This song is an invitation to Christmas. It was written by a notorious grinch and attempts to take into consideration those who find Christmas a difficult time to stomach, whether that be due to apathy, unhappy memories, poverty, disillusionment or social anxiety.

It's an unusual kind of Christmas pop song in that it both embraces cliché and seasonal cheese and attempts to critique and move beyond the same.

It was produced on a very tight budget but we really gave it our all and you can hear a massive array of instruments and ideas (including a subtle reference to Star Wars that deserves a prize if you spot it).

Featuring Kid Conventional on lead vocals, this is our first ever Christmas song and all proceeds are going to charity, specifically HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas).

HARC is a Sheffield-based charity providing shelter, hot meals and a warm welcome for homeless, rootless and vulnerable men and women between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day. Every penny that you spend on this track will go to them. We're taking nothing at all. Please feel free to spend as much as you like on the track. :)

lyrics

So tired of nothing.
Friends are too many clicks away now.
Slow crushed and closed down.
Bound by to dos and detached from the world news.
Things that mean nothing.

So tired of singing.
Hope for a new voice next year.
If I play them right, I'll bounce off the stairs.
Comforting warm fires
Through windows we slide past, frosted, our faces connect to the glass.

So tired of choosing
Hiding ourselves in paper and ribbons, make for the exit in the hope you're forgiven!

What will you open this year?
Will it be right?
Will it be veins this year?
Will seeing mean being the light?

What will you open this year?
What will you own?
Will it be fragile and dear?
Will it be cold?
Will it be minds and eyes?
Will it be doors?
Will it be hearts this time?
Or wine and dance floors?

What will you open?
If you open anything at all?
Will it be photograph books?
Or do you find all that too dull?
Will it be arms held wide
Will imagination flow?
Will you open the ones you love?
Or the ones you don't yet know?
